Birthdays in Our Classroom

Every child deserves to feel extra special on their birthday. Here's how we celebrate together!

How We Celebrate Birthdays

Birthdays are a big deal in kindergarten — and we love making each child feel seen, celebrated, and loved by their classroom community!

To keep our celebrations fun, inclusive, and allergy-safe for everyone, we follow a few simple guidelines below.

📚

Share a Book!

One of our favorite ways to celebrate is by donating a book to our classroom library in your child's honor! We will add a special bookplate inside with your child's name and birthday. It becomes a lasting gift to the whole class. Alternatively, your child is welcome to bring a favorite book from home for us to read together on their special day!

🎂

No Food Treats, Please

Due to food allergies and our school's wellness policy, we ask that families do not send in cakes, cupcakes, cookies, or any food items to share with the class. We want every child to be able to participate safely!

🎁

Non-Food Celebrations Welcome

You are welcome to send in a non-food treat to share — think pencils, bookmarks, stickers, or a small trinket. These make wonderful keepsakes and every child can enjoy them.

🌟

Birthday Spotlight

On your child's birthday (or the closest school day), they will get a special birthday gift, a sticker, and be celebrated at Crew time. Keep the celebration going by joining your child for lunch, 12:00–12:30 pm.

☀️

Summer Birthdays

If your child's birthday falls during the summer, don't worry — we celebrate them during the last week of school so no one misses out on their special day!

📚

Share a Book!

Would you like to donate a book to our classroom library in honor of your child's birthday, or bring a favorite book to share? Here's how it works:

  1. 1Choose any new children's book your child loves (or ask Ms. Renaux for suggestions!).
  2. 2Send it in with your child on or before their birthday.
  3. 3Ms. Renaux will add a personalized bookplate inside with your child's name and birthday.
  4. 4The book joins our classroom library and will be read and loved for years to come!
